The manufacture of Football Kits

Historically a number of regulations, established by association football, governed the suitability of football kits. Primarily they were not to pose a danger to either the player or another participant.

As regards the manufacture, the availability of materials dictated the quality and comfort of the sportswear. The football kit consisted of a long sleeved shirt, long shorts, socks and heavy boots. The goalkeeper wore a shirt that was more akin to a woollen jersey. The choice of kit colours was basically restricted to the primary colours and styles were equally restrictive and mundane.

In the twentieth century, with the significant evolution of football kits, due to the development of new fabrics and materials and progressive attitudes of players and governing sports bodies, shorts were worn at a shorter length and boots became lighter and softer. These welcome changes offered a greater degree of comfort and flexibility to players wearing their football kits. Additionally we saw greater changes such as the printing of numbers, Sponsors logos and even players names on their shirts.

Advancement in clothing manufacture and printing allowed shirts to be made in lighter synthetic fibres with more colourful and complex designs. We now see that replica strips are made available for fans to purchase and this is a huge selling draw for team football kits. The manufacture of football team kits today is entirely different to that of the early days, and with more science and technology involved the end product is much superior. We, at Royal Sports, manufacture our own football kits so we fully recognise what it takes to make football kits that meet and exceed the exacting standards we have set ourselves. These kits are fabricated with the wearer in mind, to not only look sensational but also provide superb comfort in all weather conditions.

Fabrics are ventilated to take sweat away from the skin and prevent players from overheating and are non abrasive. They are extremely durable, able to withstand the rigours of a foot ball season including the frequent machine washing. They hold their normal size and colour and can stretch out without tearing at the seams. Both football training kits and game football kits (Soccer Kits) meet exacting manufacturing standards that guarantee an excellent end product.

Though the looks of football kits may be the last priority to those who know a little about the subject, studies have shown that the look of the kit has an impact on the performance of the players. If they feel confident and good in their kits then they perform better on the field of play.
