NFL Preseason Week 2: Eagles vs Bengals – 8:05pm EST
Two playoff teams from the 2009 season will meet in week 2 NFL preseason betting odds on Friday Night as the Cincinnati Bengals host the Philadelphia Eagles. Kick-off is set for 8:05pm EST and online sportsbooks opened with Cincinnati as a 2.5-point favorite with an over/under total of 37.5 for the game can been seen on FOX TV. Philadelphia won their 2010 NFL preseason opener last week over the Jacksonville Jaguars 28-27 but failed to cover the NFL betting odds as 3-point home favorites as the game soared over the total of 33. Cincinnati defeated Denver in preseason play last week 33-24 as 3.5-point home favorites with the NFL spread for any easy payout as the game went over 33.
Although Kevin Kolb has been named the new starting quarterback of the Eagles it was backup Michael Vick who was the star last week in NFL odds. As he was 11-17 for 119 yards and had 50 yards rushing on 6 carries for a touchdown. Kolb takes over for the departed Donovan McNabb and will be under intense pressure but claims to be ready. “I’m the starter now,” said Kolb. “And I’m looking forward to doing this for a long, long time in the future.” The Eagles just broke camp in what was described as the toughest ever run by head coach Andy Reid.
“We ran 200 more plays here than we did a year ago,” said Reid. “And that’s good for a young team.” Reid decided a youth movement was in order after a blowout playoff loss at Dallas last year. The Eagles will continue to work in young players during preseason games and both Kolb and Vick will continue to see action. Cincinnati coach Marvin Lewis said the Eagles are a good preseason opponent. He said Philadelphia’s offense was “a quick throwing team with guys that do a great job of running after the catch.” Lewis said the Eagles defense was “a 4-3 defense with different pressures. It’s a good game to play as far as recognition of what’s going to happen in a Football game,” about playing Cincinnati on Friday. “They’re a well coached group on special teams as well,” Lewis added.
