Due to legal reasons these games can not be screened on TV in the UK. However they are televised across the globe and streamed to the Internet for all of us to watch.

There are several P2P programs out there that allow you to view these channels on your computer. Such players are Sopcast, TVU and TV ants and many more. Personally I find Sopcast more reliable as the connections are more stable and the interface is more user friendly.

Once you are using Firefox, download any one of these players (you may wish to download 2 or 3 of these as 1 player may not have the channel showing the game – however, Sopcast do tend to have more live channels than the others):

So, once you have downloaded Sopcast (or any other player), log in and you will be able to see a list of channels that are currently on air. These channels range from sports channels to Movie channels and come from all across the world.

An awesome website to visit is MyP2P.eu . This website should help answer any problems you come across when trying to watch TV via your P2P Program. If you click on the live sports tab up the top of the page you will see a list of games that are due to be played in the next couple of days.

Find the game you want to watch and click the little tv link on the right hand side.

Now scroll down the page and you will see a list of channels where the game is being played and what software to use (Sopcast, TVants etc). Click the play button and you will get a prompt display, click on launch application and your player will launch, if not already open.

note: Sopcast doesn’t tend to display the chosen channel when you click launch application, so in Sopcast type in the address bar the link that the prompt field displays. eg, sop://broker1.sopcast.com:3912/1234

Wait a couple of minutes for it to download and wa-hay, your now watching the big match.

If watching on your computer monitor doesn’t cut it, you can stream it to your Xbox 360 (and possibly other devices), to enable you to watch on the big screen (I’ll tell you how that can be set up in a follow up post).

useful Tip;

Don’t use Torrent or download programs when watching. P2P depends on Upload and Download speed of all users watching. Shut down all processes that uses your Internet speed. This will allow you to watch the match fast enough. Your upload is needed to get it running fine for other people. So follow these steps and you and other people are able to enjoy it without any problems.

What else is there?

Alternativly to using MYP2P to find the game, check out LiveFooty. This website also lists all the top games and allows you to watch within your web browser (only Internet Explorer). You must ensure that you have the Sopcast or TVants web players downloaded (these should be included when you download the programs, as linked above).

Disadvantages:

Unfortunately its not all hunky dory, the picture quality isn’t always great and at times the channels wont buffer straight away and can take a while to get working, if it works at all. But hey, when it does work, you are watching free football (or other sports) that you aren’t usually able to watch.

So if you are planning on watching a match, give yourself 10-15 minutes to get the player up and running and enough time for the channel to buffer.

Also, as these channels are streamed from across the globe your match may have foreign commentary. Although this is pretty funny, it soon gets on your nerves. If that’s the case just check to see if the commentary is somewhere else online .

College Football Enters the Fantasy World

CBS Sports, apparently feeling bolder after the Supreme Court rejected MLB’s attempt to garner revenues from fantasy baseball providers, has announced that it will offer a college football fantasy football game this season.

Players of video games have always thought it silly that they can play college Football Video games on PlayStation and the like and see # 5 for the West Virginia football team blowing by Big East defenses, but not being permitted to know for sure that this was Heisman candidate Pat White. CBS Sports is changing all that.

The new CBS Sports fantasy college football game will use the actual names and statistics of college athletes for the upcoming 2008 season.

In the past, CBS Sports had offered a college football game, but it never really caught on with fantasy sports players. It’s probably because most college football fans have loyalty to their regional team and while they may know the teams in their conference, it’s difficult to keep up with all 120 Division-1 gridiron squads. Real quick, name the star running back for Marshall who made the Conference-USA all freshman team last year (should be an easy one to remember: Darius Marshall).

In addition, the players change every four years and there’s 11-12 games rather than the NFL’s 16 games plus 4-5 preseason games that nobody cares about. Certainly, it’s much easier to know the players on the 30 NFL teams. You’ve been watching them longer and they were standouts for four years in college. The mere universe of players available to a fantasy college football team is daunting, even if you have the ESPN GamePlan package.

But, perhaps the most important reason why fantasy college football never caught on in the past was because of the lame way that the players were presented. Instead of saying that it was Missouri’s star QB Chase Daniel, the games were forced to say Missouri quarterback # 10.

The Supreme Court’s decision to not hear Major League Baseball’s case on June 2 involving fantasy baseball led to this change by CBS Sports. Essentially, the Supreme Court said that a sports league or entity does not own the rights to statistics and names of players are part of the public domain.

Now, you’d think the NCAA would have to get involved, wouldn’t you? I mean, they stuck their noses into banning the ability for college prospects to get text messages from coaches. Surprisingly, NCAA spokesman Bob Williams did remind CBS Sports that it prohibits the use of player likenesses in the game, but that for now the NCAA does not intend to stand in the way of the fantasy college football game.

That’s great news from the NCAA, but I’m not sure we’ve heard the last from them on this issue. In the mean time, get your preseason college football guide books and consider picking up West Virginia running back Noel Devine as well as Pat White.

Soccer or Football as we all know is not only a game but a way of life in many countries and a culture in so many other nations. The game attracts millions of football fans and supporters world wide in any given match whether its been played live or telecast in England, Italy, Spain, Germany, Asia, Africa, Brazil, Argentina, to name a few. There are countless Football Teams, squads, clubs, tournaments, coaches and many other officials involved directly or indirectly
who keeps the game going and make sure its been played according to the laid down rules.

The game generates great income not only for the organizers but also to the stadium management and provides job opportunities for millions who are directly or indirectly involved in any particular football season. Soccer has also produced thousands of great heroes and superstarts and has made more millionaires than any sports you can think of. Conduct a survey today in schools and you will find out that all the boys wants to be Soccer players and most of the girls wants to get involved with girls soccer leagues not only to enjoy the fame and popularity associated with the game but also the wealth that comes with been a player. The best opportunity is to utilize the upcoming World Cup in South Africa to inform football fans and supporters world wide the 30 minutes additional playing time to be implimented in all Football Games after the World Cup Soccer bonanza.

Playing Soccer/football one hour ( 60 mins ) for each half instead of the current 45 mins would be a thing of joy and excitement to millions of football fans world over and a moral boosting to the players in particular who for sure likes more playing time and the crowd pulling soccer teams like manchester united, liverpool, Inter Milan, Real Madrid, chelsea and arsenal in general whose supporters would love to watch the game for as long as it goes.

In addition, more 30 minutes playing time will make the game more competitive among the teams and allow more reserved players to take part in a particular game. check out the reserve bench in any match, many quality players warm the bench game after game and never get opportunity to play unless injury occures. The time adjustment would not only add more flavor to the game, generate more income to the body and stadium management but would also attract more fans and supporters and the almighty sponsors would love to place more advertisements.
More playing time adjustment is also very necessary to allow late comers to enjoy the game. sometimes people are stucked up in traffic and before they reach the stadium the game is almost over. Most times the queues to obtain Football Tickets are too long and people are stocked there for almost the duration of the game and they never enjoy fully the game they loved and paid for.

There are many games that are been played for long hours and believe me people due enjoy it most. When people pay to attend a soccer game or watch on Television, they like to be there, follow the game and enjoy it for as long as it takes and don’t care how long, the longer the game, the more happier fans and supporters become and that happiness will continue to linger in their mind till the next game, that’s more reason Soccer or football is No 1 game.

The world No 1 game should be given a new face lift and adding more 30 mins playing time would be a good news to all football/Soccer fans and supporters world wide, a bonus they would love to have after the upcoming world cup bonanza in South Africa.

There should be a monitoring device in place at both goal posts to avoid common referee mistakes which often result to misunderstanding and fighting among players hence tanishing the games reputation.
